Artists, Crafts & Cottage Industries

The Elk Coast of Mendocino County is known for it's artistic talent. The coast has long been a refuge for artists to perform their inspiring work. Local talent of the Elk Coast presents their work at their own businesses and in local shops.

ERNA'S ENCHANTED COTTAGE

The Fitzsimmons sisters, Midge Denton, Erna Smith and Tricia Rinaldo have turned the 1875 Conway House in Elk, into a fascinating shop full of antiques, collectibles, local (and California) arts and crafts, books by local writers, and used paperbacks.

GREENWOOD PIER COUNTRY STORE

The Country Store was opened in July, l985; this eclectic store has a huge array of carefully selected items at good prices. The boutique includes sweaters, nighties, hats, jackets, sportswear, and dresses (many of which are one of a kind). The Country Store proudly features the art of many local painters, card designers, ceramicists, weavers, writers, hatmakers, and jewelers.

GREENWOOD PIER GARDEN SHOP

The Garden Shop, opened in l992, is a beautifully designed building; the mosaic floors are something to behold. This eclectic shop displays many works of local artists: garden sculpture, fountains, ironwork, tilework, ceramics, paintings, rugs, furniture, lamps, and mirrors. Of course, seeds, indoor and outdoor plants, various size planters, pots, and garden decor are available. The nursery is innovative.
